NZ Athletes Place Well at JGP
Allie Rout finished in 20th position in Junior Ladies with 94.87 at the Pokal der Blauen Schwerter, Junior Grand Prix event in Germany. Allie held 16th place after the short programme, but placed 20th after her 19th place finish in the free skate. In Ice Dance, Ayesha Campbell and Shane Speden also finished in 20th place with 89.52 points. The couple finished 20th in the original and free dances after a 21st place finish in the compulsory. NZ Athletes Compete at JGP in Germany
Ayesha Campbell and Shane Speden take to the ice late tonight in New Zealand's first ever ice dance entry in the Junior Grand Prix. They'll be up against Australian Jonathan Guerreiro and partner Ekaterina Pushkash skating for Russia. Allie Rout goes Senior
Allie Rout competed in her first ISU competition in Senior at the
Winter Games NZ in Dunedin in her pursuit for Olympic selection.
Allie gave up an almost certain gold medal win in Junior to take
4th in Senior in an effort to boost her world rankings and starting
position when she competes at the Olympic-qualifying Nebelhorn
Trophy in Oberstdorf, Germany later this month. Allie was too young
to attempt selection at the World Championships earlier this year
and will be competing against a strong group of young skaters and
seasoned veterans for the few remaining Olympic berths. Go Allie!
Skaters take medals at Winter Games NZ
Madelaine Parker placed second in the Novice Ladies grade with a score of 80.11 behind the winner So Youn Park (107.43pts) from Korea at the inaugural Winter Games last weekend in Dunedin. In the Junior Men’s grade Cameron Hems (90.88pts) placed third behind winner Min Seok Kim (153.14pts) from Korea and Ryuichi Kihara (134.60pts) from Japan. Full results are now available. More...
